Ohio Christian school tells student to skip prom:
FINDLAY, Ohio – A student at a fundamentalist Baptist school that forbids dancing, rock music, hand-holding and kissing will be suspended if he takes his girlfriend to her public high school prom, his principal said.
Despite the warning, 17-year-old Tyler Frost, who has never been to a dance before, said he plans to attend Findlay High School's prom Saturday.
Frost, a senior at Heritage Christian School in northwest Ohio, agreed to the school's rules when he signed a statement of cooperation at the beginning of the year, principal Tim England said.
The teen, who is scheduled to receive his diploma May 24, would be suspended from classes and receive an "incomplete" on remaining assignments, England said. Frost also would not be permitted to attend graduation but would get a diploma once he completes final exams. If Frost is involved with alcohol or sex at the prom, he will be expelled, England said.
I like how Tim England exposes his complete inability to steer young Christian minds in a righteous and holy direction in the last paragraph. If Frost is involved with alcohol or sex at the prom he will be expelled, huh? What that says to me, Mr. England, is that you have no confidence in yourself as a Christian instructor. You assume that the moment Frost walks into the prom he will immediately abandon all the moral principles he's been instilled with at your school (i.e. religious brainwashing automaton factory), at home, and at church, booze it up, and get some bitches pregnant. Obviously, you have not properly prepared your students for life in the real world if they can be so easily swayed by Top 40 music and slow-dancing to drink and fuck until they can't see straight.

Of course, Frost did sign a "statement of cooperation"--whatever that is--at the beginning of the year. I assume it said that he will refrain from rock music, hand-holding, masturbation, and proms while he is a student at Fundie Baptist High. But, wait...
Frost said he thought he had handled the situation properly. Findlay requires students from other schools attending the prom to get a signature from their principal, which Frost did.
"I expected a short lecture about making the right decisions and not doing something stupid," Frost said. "I thought I would get his signature and that would be the end."
England acknowledged signing the form but warned Frost there would be consequences if he attended the dance. England then took the issue to a school committee made up of church members, who decided to threaten Frost with suspension.

So, it pleases God to ruin a young man's high school career because he wants to take his girlfriend to a public school prom? God is pleased when school committees and douchebag principals restrict young people from everything fun about growing up? Hmmm.
Also, the above quote is a perfect example of why I harbor so much disdain for conservative Christians. Everything to them is either God or self/Devil/world. You're either with God (Christian) or you're against Him (anything else). If you go to a public school prom, dance with your girlfriend, and watch the sunrise at Stephen's parents' lake house, your spitting in the face of the Allmighty, but if you choose to stay home and play Bible Pictionary with your grandparents, you've chosen the good and righteous path. Does that sound about right?
Principal England, get a life. Don't you have anything better to do? Actually, you're opposed to hand-holding, kissing, and rock music, so probably not. What do you do when you're not deep in prayer about how President Obama is turning the US into a Socialist nation or forwarding pictures of aborted fetuses to your Anti-Abortion prayer group or seeing how far you can shove your head up your cavernous asshole?
The old adage "You're either with God or against Him" is wrong. Because I don't align myself with a denomination or any religion for that matter, I'm somehow against God? Who would want to be against God? He's an all powerful being, right? He'd kick my butt seven different ways before I knew what was happening.
I'm against people like you, Principal England. Holier than thou people who take joy in restricting fun and freedom of expression. Close-minded people who truly believe that "bass leads to sex" (a friend of mine went to a Christian school that actually preached this idea). Scared people who think holding a girl's hand or kissing a girl's lips will inevitably lead to sexual immorality and a one way ticket to a mythical fiery pit. I don't want to believe that there are people this willfully ignorant in my country, but every single day I'm reminded that I am surrounded by them.
