From the Editor's Desk: It's a Celebration, Bitches!

Sure, it's Valentines Day, but more importantly it's Giant Electric Penguin's 1st Birthday! That's right, one year ago today GEP posted its first blog entry (a hilarious review of the failed family film Mac and Me) and history was made. Since then we've kept America laughing with popular features like Stop Already, Sunday Morning Music, and What the WTF!?; provided valuable information to a culture hungry for knowledge with People's History of Rock and Movie Smackdown; and delighted the nation's youth with our heavy use of swears and snark. The internet has provided the world with a quick and easy way to shit all over popular culture, and we're so glad to be one of the many Web sites taking advantage of this great privilege. Of course, GEP would be nothing without the hard work of our various contributors who I will be thanking in no particular order right now:

Jonathan: GEP wouldn't be half as funny without you. Actually, it would be exactly half as funny and, at this point, that is completely unacceptable. You've elevated the whole enterprise since becoming the official co-head honcho of whatever this is, and I just want to thank you right here and now for all of your love and support. Now get back to writing, you lazy bastard!

List Lady AKA The Wife AKA Jen: GEP is a brighter place because of your hilarious lists and insulting comments about various America's Next Top Model contestants. Most of what you do is behind the scenes (she gives me the ideas for almost half of what I put up here--she created both the 25 Days of Horrible Holiday Decorations and the 14 Days of Love, for example), but your input and support is what keeps me motivated. Plus, you have sex with me on a regular basis. Thanks for that.

Any bands who responded to the My Favorite Movie questionnaire I sent out, various comment jockeys (but mostly Gabe, Nick, Jenny, and Jordan), readers who never comment, Slamball enthusiasts, David Archuleta (an early supporter), reality television: Thank you so much!

Person who anonymously commented on our Jon and Kate article last July: Kiss my ass. Seriously.
